Supporting Public Health

Supporting Public Health is an NHS agency providing highly specialised public health intelligence, support to commissioners of healthcare and workforce development.

Who we are

Supporting Public Health is the largest public health agency in the country. We are market leaders in public health development, and support public health and healthcare commissioning locally, regionally, and nationally. We bring together knowledge from research and statistics with policy and practice to assist our stakeholders in NHS and other public sector organisations improve their services.

Supporting Public Health comprises the South East Public Health Observatory, incorporating the Drug Treatment Monitoring Unit (DTMU), the Public Health Resource Unit, and the Oxford Cancer Intelligence Unit. Our expert team includes public health doctors, public health specialists, information analysts, epidemiologists, and health researchers. We are respected nationally and internationally with skills in public health, epidemiology, statistics, analysis, education, quality assurance, workforce development, communications, and management.

A Corporate Services Team supports these teams.

Although based in Oxford, Milton Keynes PCT is our host employer, and SPH is accountable to the Trust Board for our Governance arrangements, risk assurance and performance.
